Sam King
Born and raised in the Saint John hockey community, Sam King built his game through years of dedication, compete, and high-level development. His talent and work ethic led to him being drafted by both the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL and the Woodstock Slammers of the MHL.
At just 16 years old, Sam made the jump to junior hockey, spending two seasons in the MHL with the Woodstock Slammers and Yarmouth Mariners. During that time, he represented Team MHL at the Eastern Canada Cup Challenge, continuing to establish himself as one of the region’s top young players.
At 17, Sam earned the opportunity to represent Team Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge and later competed in the CJHL All-Star Game in Surrey, British Columbia. Following an intense offseason and the trade of his QMJHL rights to the Charlottetown Islanders, Sam went on to spend two successful seasons in the QMJHL, helping his team reach the quarterfinals and semifinals in back-to-back years.
Returning to the MHL for his final junior season with the Edmundston Blizzard, Sam delivered an outstanding year both on and off the ice. He earned a third appearance at the Eastern Canada Cup Challenge while also being named MHL Character Player of the Year and a First Team All-Star.
Following his junior career, Sam joined the Saint Mary’s Huskies in U SPORTS, where he competed for three seasons and helped the program reach the national championship tournament twice. After completing his university career, Sam signed an ECHL contract before transitioning into the development side of the game.
Today, Sam is passionate about helping the next generation of athletes grow both on and off the ice. With experience at the Junior A, QMJHL, U SPORTS, and professional levels, he brings a deep understanding of what it takes to compete, develop, and advance through every stage of the game. Through coaching and mentorship, Sam is committed to helping young players build confidence, improve their skills, and reach the next level in their hockey journeys.
