Katie Sweeney

One of the top university goaltenders in Canada, Katy Sweeney brings elite-level experience, composure, and leadership to every athlete she works with. As a standout U SPORTS goalie with the St. Thomas Tommies women’s hockey program, Katy has built a reputation for her compete level, technical precision, and ability to perform in high-pressure moments against some of the best players in the country.
But what makes Katy special goes far beyond the saves she makes.
Known for her calm presence, work ethic, and connection with younger athletes, Katy has become a major part of the Rink Rebels goalie development culture. She brings real U SPORTS-level habits, structure, and mindset into every session — helping young goalies understand what elite preparation, confidence, and consistency actually look like.
Throughout the summer, Katy will play a huge role in on-ice development with Rink Rebels, especially within the goalie program, where athletes will get direct exposure to the details and mentality required to compete at the next level. Her ability to teach positioning, tracking, rebound control, movement efficiency, and mental composure gives young goalies a chance to learn from someone currently competing at one of the highest levels in Canada.
More importantly, she understands the pressure young female athletes face — and how confidence can completely change a player’s path.
Through her work with Rink Rebels, Katy helps athletes:
• build confidence in pressure situations
• develop elite goalie habits and structure
• improve movement, tracking, and compete level
• understand the mental side of performance
• learn what it takes to reach the next level

Katy represents everything the Rink Rebels stand for — leadership, mentorship, compete, and giving back to the next generation of female hockey players in Fredericton.

Her message is simple:
**Confidence is trained. Compete is earned. Believe bigger.**
