Friendship Tournament Kickoff Event

What would the Friendship Tournament be without bringing everyone together to celebrate?

Join us on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Willie O’Ree Place from 7:00 PM – 10:30 PM as we kick off the weekend with music, giveaways, special guests, and a chance for players, families, and friends to meet, mingle, and connect.

Whether players are dancing like they just scored the overtime winner or simply hanging out and meeting new faces, this is the perfect way to start the weekend.

This is more than a tournament. It is a weekend where players connect, friendships begin, and memories are made.

Keynote Speaker Series

Saturday, August 8, 2026
– To be announced

Thursday Event

Before the tournament begins, players will have the chance to take part in a special Rink Rebels experience built around development, mentorship, and inspiration.

Rebels with the Pros is a separate event from the tournament and will be offered as an optional add-on experience for players who want to take their weekend even further.

This special event will feature on-ice development, player interaction, special guests, photos, autographs, and a chance for young athletes to connect with role models in the game.

With Rink Rebels, you never know who is going to walk through the doors. 👀

More details coming June 5th, 2026.

Why Friendship Matters

The Rink Rebels Friendship Tournament was created because female athletes deserve more than just a place to play. They deserve a place to belong.

In many rinks, girls are still the minority. Some are the only girl on their team. Some travel long distances just to find the right program. Some are still looking for a hockey environment where they feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

That is why this tournament matters.

The Friendship Tournament brings girls together in an environment built specifically for them. Every team is a girls’ team. Every player matters. Every athlete has a chance to compete, connect, grow, and shine.

We believe in cheering for the quiet kids, celebrating the game beyond the scoreboard, and creating a space where girls can lead, learn, and lift each other up.

Building on Last Year’s Success

Last year’s Friendship Tournament proved that this event was needed.

In our first year, we welcomed 16 teams and brought together players, families, coaches, and supporters from across the region for a weekend that quickly became about more than hockey.

New friendships were formed. Confidence grew. Families connected. Players competed hard, supported one another, and left the rink with memories that lasted long after the final buzzer.

The energy in the rink showed us what is possible when female athletes are given a stage of their own.

In 2026, that momentum has grown in a big way.

This year, the Friendship Tournament has expanded from 16 teams to 28 teams, a reflection of the demand, excitement, and belief surrounding female hockey in New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada.

What started as an idea has quickly become one of the region’s most exciting female hockey events.

Last year was the beginning.

In 2026, we are building something even bigger.

Female Hockey in New Brunswick & Atlantic Canada

Female hockey in New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada continues to grow, but there is still work to do.

Access, visibility, development opportunities, and leadership pathways are not yet equal for every girl. Too many players still have to search for the right environment, the right ice time, the right coaching, and the right opportunities to grow.

Rink Rebels is working to help change that.

The Friendship Tournament is designed to be:

  • A showcase for female hockey talent in Atlantic Canada
  • A place where rural and urban communities come together
  • A development-focused event built around confidence and connection
  • A platform for players to meet new teammates, role models, and friends
  • A weekend full of energy, empowerment, and inspiration

We are not just running a tournament.

We are helping build a stronger future for female hockey.

What We’re Building

Our vision extends far beyond one weekend.

Rink Rebels is committed to creating more opportunities for girls to train, compete, lead, and belong in the game. That means more development programs, more mentorship, more female role models, and more spaces where girls feel hockey is truly theirs.

We are building toward:

  • Year-round development opportunities for girls of all levels
  • Training and mentorship led by strong coaches and role models
  • Partnerships that create more ice, more reps, and more visibility
  • Events that bring players and families together across Atlantic Canada
  • A culture where girls do not just feel welcome in hockey — they own it

The Future Is Female — And It’s On Ice

When a girl feels powerful in skates, everything changes.

She carries that confidence into school, into leadership, into friendships, and into life. The Rink Rebels Friendship Tournament is one of the places where that confidence grows.

Whether she scores the game-winner, makes a new friend, learns something about herself, or simply feels like she belongs, every player leaves stronger.

This is what Rink Rebels is all about.

Teammate Requests

One of the things that makes the Rink Rebels Friendship Tournament so special is the chance for players to meet new teammates, build new friendships, and connect with girls from different communities.

To help protect that experience and keep teams balanced, each player may submit one friend request.

We will do our best to accommodate requests, but they are not guaranteed. For players travelling from out of town, we will do our best to support those situations and accommodate where possible while still keeping teams fair and competitive.

Get Involved

This tournament continues to grow because of the players, families, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who believe in what we are building.
